Ashraf Ali Bastavi is an Indian Journalist based in New Delhi. He is currently Sub Editor Bi-weekly DAWAT Urdu www.dawatonline.com and Honorary Editor of Urdu News Portal www.asiatimes.co.in focusing on issues concerning the Asian community. He is also the founder of All India Ideal Journalist Association (AIIJA), an organisation promotion for Value Based Journalism in India. He is a regular commentator on indian Muslims and Indian Political issues. His journalism carrier crossed a decade. He is also associated with india’s Public Broadcasting House All India Radio –NSD as Casual Urdu News Reader and also working with DD News Channel as casual News Editor. He is also working as PTC for New Delhi for North America’s largest Urdu News Paper Urdu Times www.urdutimes.com His writings appears in other News Papers and online news websites . Early life and education Bastavi was born into an agricultural family at District Basti UP, India, on March 22 in 1978. Graduated from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (DDU) UP, with subjects English ,Urdu and Political Science , MA Political Science from DDU.Urdu MA Urdu from Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) New Delhi and Mass communication from Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi . In year 1999 after completing BA from Ambika Pertap Narayan (APN) PG College , Basti ; he was the first college graduate in his family and own village. Initial stage of Career Soon after his graduation in 1999 he joined The Daily Urdu Times Mumbai www.urdutimes.net as Stringer for Eastern UP. After taking some experience he Joined Newly launched Roznama Sahara Urdu Gorakhpur Edition as Reporter on 13 Sep 2002 and appointed as Area Reporter from Bagh Nagar , Sant Kabir Nagar , UP. later he joined Hindi Daily Dainik Jagran www.jagran.com in 2004 after two years association with Jagran group he came to Delhi in search of good carrier in 2006.He started his Journey from a newly born Urdu News Paper Hindustan Express Daily .He has been taken at least Five Hundred Exclusive interviews for “JAIZA” Special feature of DAWAT , Bi weekly on more than 70 National , International and Community related isues .
